Sickle Cell Disease and Other Heritable Blood Disorders Research, Surveillance, Prevention, and Treatment Act of 2025

This bill reauthorizes and significantly expands a federal demonstration program focused on sickle cell disease. It extends the program's funding through fiscal years 2025 to 2029, substantially increasing the annual allocation from $4.455 million to $8.205 million.

The legislation broadens the program's focus to explicitly include the prevention and treatment of complications of sickle cell disease, alongside the disease itself. It also diversifies the funding mechanisms, allowing for the use of grants and cooperative agreements in addition to contracts for program implementation. Furthermore, the bill includes a Sense of Congress emphasizing the need for continued research into the causes and cures for heritable blood disorders, including sickle cell disease.
