Key responsibilities of the VSAFE Officer include providing comprehensive communication during fraud incidents, establishing consistent guidance on identifying and avoiding scams, and promoting the VSAFE Fraud Hotline and website. The officer will also develop methods to monitor fraud metrics, facilitate trend identification, and coordinate extensively with the VA Inspector General and other federal agencies like the Department of Justice and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to enhance prevention efforts. Furthermore, the bill extends the sunset date for certain limits on the payment of VA pensions from November 30, 2031, to January 30, 2032.
