This bill authorizes the award of three Congressional Gold Medals to the members of the 1980 United States Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team. This honor recognizes their extraordinary achievement at the XIII Olympic Winter Games, where amateur collegiate players defeated the dominant Soviet ice hockey team in the historic " Miracle on Ice ." This victory significantly revitalized morale in the United States during the height of the Cold War, inspired generations, and profoundly transformed the sport of ice hockey within the nation. The Secretary of the Treasury will be responsible for designing and striking these gold medals. Following their official award, one medal will be permanently displayed at the Lake Placid Olympic Center, while another will be housed at the United States Hockey Hall of Fame Museum in Eveleth, Minnesota. The third gold medal is designated for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado, ensuring its public display and availability for research. Additionally, the bill permits the striking and sale of bronze duplicate medals, with the proceeds supporting the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund.
