This bill reauthorizes and expands the WISEWOMAN program , allowing the Secretary, through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to award supplemental grants for preventive health services. These services include screenings for cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure, cholesterol, and obesity, along with evidence-based health education to improve measurable health outcomes for women. The program also ensures appropriate referrals and follow-up services, with eligibility extending to women already receiving breast and cervical cancer screenings and other high-risk women. Services are provided by existing screening entities or other healthcare entities, and the bill authorizes $250,000,000 for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to fund these initiatives. Additionally, the bill mandates a Government Accountability Office (GAO) study by September 30, 2027, to evaluate the program's effectiveness. This study will assess the number of eligible and served individuals, identify trends and barriers to accessing cardiovascular health screenings, and analyze the program's cost-effectiveness regarding patient outcomes such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and obesity.
