Summary
This bill proposes to amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act by designating the Upper Raritan River Watershed in New Jersey for a comprehensive study. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the watershed's eligibility for potential addition to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System , aiming to preserve its outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values. Specifically, the study will encompass segments of the North Branch Raritan River, the South Branch Raritan River, and the Lamington-Black River, including all their tributaries within the designated watershed. The Secretary of the Interior is mandated to complete this study and submit a detailed report to Congress within three years after funds are made available for this purpose. This report will describe the study's findings and recommendations regarding the watershed's suitability for protection under the Act.
