This bill proposes an amendment to the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to initiate a study of the Upper Raritan River Watershed in New Jersey. The primary goal is to assess the watershed's suitability for designation as part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, which protects rivers with outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values. Specifically, the legislation mandates a study of the North Branch Raritan River , the South Branch Raritan River , the Black or Lamington River , and all their tributaries within the Upper Raritan River watershed. These segments are to be evaluated for their potential inclusion in the federal protection system. The Secretary of the Interior is directed to complete this comprehensive study and submit a detailed report to Congress within three years after funds become available for the study.
