National Strategy for School Security Act of 2025

This bill, titled the National Strategy for School Security Act of 2025, amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to require the development of a comprehensive plan for protecting elementary and secondary schools. Its primary purpose is to enhance domestic preparedness and response to acts of terrorism targeting educational institutions and to coordinate federal efforts in this area. Within one year of enactment, the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Secretary of Education and other relevant agencies, must submit a national school security strategy to specific Congressional committees. This strategy will detail all federal programs and spending related to school security, identify specific vulnerabilities, and establish goals for addressing them. The strategy must also describe concrete actions and necessary means to achieve these security goals, emphasizing the reform and streamlining of existing efforts to align with current threats. Furthermore, the Secretary is required to provide annual updates to this strategy through 2033 or certify if no updates are deemed necessary, ensuring continuous evaluation and improvement of school security measures.
