The Wildfire Risk Evaluation Act mandates that the Secretaries of Agriculture , the Interior , and Homeland Security jointly conduct a comprehensive quadrennial review of the wildfire environment in the United States. This review will include a quantitative analysis of changes in built and natural environments and their impact on pre-fire mitigation, incident response, and recovery. It will also specifically analyze the intersection between wildfire and public health, coordinating with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Health and Human Services. Following each review, the Secretaries must submit a report to relevant congressional committees, starting one year after enactment and continuing every four years for two decades. This report will summarize anticipated wildfire challenges over the subsequent 20-year period and propose necessary legislative and administrative actions. Furthermore, it will evaluate progress toward established national cohesive wildland fire management goals and the implementation of recommendations from the Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission, offering projected future scenarios to guide strategic adjustments.
