This Act directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to engage the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to conduct a comprehensive study. The primary goal of this study is to investigate the prevalence and mortality of various cancers among individuals who served as active duty aircrew in fixed-wing aircraft within the Armed Forces. The study will specifically identify occupational exposures , such as chemicals and other phenomena, associated with military aircrew duties. It will then review existing literature to determine any associations between these exposures and the incidence or prevalence of overall cancer morbidity and mortality, focusing on specific cancers like brain, lung, prostate, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, among others. Furthermore, the National Academies will determine the prevalence and mortality of these cancers among the covered individuals by leveraging available data sources, including healthcare databases from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense, as well as the national death index. Upon completion, a detailed report of the study's findings will be submitted to the Secretary and relevant Congressional committees.
