This legislation mandates the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to enter into an agreement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to conduct a comprehensive study. The study's primary objective is to investigate the prevalence and mortality of cancers among individuals who served as active duty aircrew in fixed-wing aircraft within the Armed Forces. The study will identify specific exposures associated with military aircrew occupations, such as chemicals and agents, and review existing literature to determine their links to overall cancer morbidity and mortality. It will specifically focus on the incidence and prevalence of at least eleven types of cancer, including brain, lung, prostate, and pancreatic cancers. Data for this analysis will be drawn from various sources, including health care databases of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense, as well as the national death index, with a report submitted to Congress upon completion. Additionally, the bill includes a separate provision that extends the deadline for certain limits on veterans' pension payments from November 30, 2031, to December 31, 2031.
