This bill amends Title VII of the Social Security Act to require the Commissioner of Social Security to establish procedures for a single point of contact at the agency. This contact is for individuals who are victims of identity theft, specifically those whose Social Security account number has been misused or whose Social Security card has been lost during transmission. The dedicated contact will assist individuals whose SSN was used to fraudulently obtain benefits, affected their SSA records, or prompted a request for a new SSN. This single point of contact will be a team of specially trained employees responsible for tracking the individual's case to completion and coordinating with other units for quick resolution. They will maintain accountability throughout the process, ensuring continuity of records and case history, with the provisions taking effect 180 days after enactment.
