This bill, titled the Cerro de la Olla Wilderness Establishment Act, amends the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act to designate new wilderness and adjust existing boundaries. Specifically, it establishes the Cerro de la Olla Wilderness , encompassing approximately 12,295 acres of federal land administered by the Bureau of Land Management in Taos County, New Mexico. The legislation also modifies the overall boundary of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument in New Mexico, with both changes depicted on a specified map dated April 1, 2025. Furthermore, the bill includes provisions for managing wildlife within the newly designated wilderness area. It permits the Secretary to authorize the maintenance of existing structures for wildlife water development projects , such as guzzlers, if they enhance wilderness values and their visual impact can be minimized. The Secretary is also required to enter into a cooperative agreement with the State of New Mexico within one year to outline the terms and conditions for wildlife management activities in the Cerro de la Olla Wilderness.
