The "Sarvis Creek Wilderness Completion Act" aims to amend the Colorado Wilderness Act of 1993 by expanding the existing Sarvis Creek Wilderness. This legislation specifically designates approximately 6,817 acres of land within the Routt National Forest as the "Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition." This new addition is generally depicted on a map dated February 26, 2024, and will be incorporated into the wilderness area. The Act includes important administrative provisions to ensure proper management of the newly designated wilderness. It explicitly states that nothing in the Act affects the treaty rights of any Indian Tribe and allows the Secretary of Agriculture to permit Indian Tribes access for traditional, religious, and cultural purposes. Furthermore, the Secretary is authorized to carry out necessary activities for the control of fire, insects, and diseases within the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition, subject to appropriate terms and conditions.
