Sarvis Creek Wilderness Completion Act

The Sarvis Creek Wilderness Completion Act proposes to expand the existing Sarvis Creek Wilderness by amending the Colorado Wilderness Act of 1993. This legislation designates an additional 6,817 acres of land within the Routt National Forest as part of the wilderness area, as generally depicted on a specific map dated February 26, 2024. The bill ensures the preservation of treaty rights for Indian Tribes and authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to permit traditional, religious, and cultural access and use of the newly designated wilderness addition by these tribes. Furthermore, it allows the Secretary to undertake necessary activities for the control of fire, insects, and diseases within the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition, in accordance with the Wilderness Act.
