The "Protecting Americans' Right To Silence Act of 2025," or the PARTS Act of 2025 , proposes to revise the federal definitions of "firearm silencer" and "firearm muffler" within section 921(a)(25) of title 18, United States Code. Under the amended language, these terms would encompass any device specifically designed or remade to silence, muffle, or diminish the auditory report of a portable firearm and intended for attachment to such a firearm. Additionally, the definition would include the outer tube or primary structural part of any device that houses internal sound-reduction components with the same intended purpose and attaches to a portable firearm. This legislation seeks to provide a more precise and comprehensive legal framework for identifying these firearm accessories.
