Organic Imports Verification Act of 2026

The Organic Imports Verification Act of 2026 requires the Secretary of Agriculture to enhance oversight of imported organic feedstuffs. It mandates the development of a risk-based protocol to identify specific organic feedstuffs, shipped in bulk with import certificates, that require annual residue testing. This protocol will also determine the necessary parameters for such testing, including frequency, quantity, and type. The Secretary must establish and annually update a confidential list of these covered organic feedstuffs and conduct annual residue testing on them. Furthermore, the bill requires the Secretary to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the frequency, methods, results, and actions taken based on this residue testing. If any testing reveals a prohibited substance exceeding permitted levels, the affected shipment will be excluded from organic sale and cannot be labeled as organically produced, ensuring the integrity of organic products.
