This legislation establishes the Office of Native American Affairs within the Small Business Administration (SBA) to foster economic development and entrepreneurial opportunities for Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian Organizations. The Office will build relationships and strategically target SBA programs related to entrepreneurial development, contracting, and capital access , aiming to establish and expand small businesses owned by members of these communities. It will also promote economic growth in Indian country and educate these groups about relevant programs offered by other federal agencies. The Office will be led by an Assistant Administrator for Native American Affairs , who must possess knowledge of Native American cultures and experience in culturally tailored small business assistance. This Assistant Administrator will formulate policies, collaborate with other federal agencies, and provide direct assistance, including grants, to support training, counseling, and access to SBA programs. Key responsibilities also include assisting in conducting Tribal consultations and submitting an annual report to Congress on the Office's effectiveness, covering client services and trainings. The authority for this Office is set to terminate seven years after its enactment.
