Additionally, the legislation mandates the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with military departments, to develop and implement uniform guidelines for mold remediation across all military housing, facilities, and real property within 180 days. These guidelines must align with applicable municipal, State, and third-party industry standards, such as the S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation. The standardized guidelines will apply to new remediation contracts and procedures, ensuring consistent and effective mold removal practices across the Department of Defense.
