This bill mandates the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide a plot or interment allowance for certain family members of veterans. Specifically, it directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to pay $525 , subject to future adjustments, to a state or its political subdivision when a qualifying spouse, surviving spouse, or child of a veteran is buried in a state-owned cemetery. This allowance covers spouses , including remarried surviving spouses, and minor children up to age 21 (or 23 if enrolled in an educational institution). Additionally, the Secretary has discretion to extend this benefit to unmarried adult children of veterans. The amendments made by this Act will take effect for deaths occurring on or after the date of its enactment.
