Quad Space Act

The Quad Space Act mandates the Secretary of Defense to engage in discussions with Australia, India, and Japan, through the Quad partnership , to enhance cooperation in space. These discussions are specifically aimed at identifying mutual areas of interest concerning the formulation of best practices in space , fostering cooperation on space situational awareness , and developing a shared space industrial policy . Within 180 days of enactment, the Secretary must initiate these discussions, reflecting a Congressional sense that strengthening cooperation with Quad countries is vital for a free and open Indo-Pacific, particularly in the space domain. Following these discussions, the Secretary is required to submit a report to the Committees of Armed Services within 270 days. This report must detail the identified potential areas of mutual interest and outline the steps intended to formalize cooperation among the Quad countries in space.
