Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act of 2025

This bill seeks to significantly enhance understanding and treatment of uterine fibroids by expanding and coordinating federal research efforts. It authorizes $30,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2026 through 2030 for the Secretary of Health and Human Services to intensify research, collaborating with the National Institutes of Health and other relevant agencies. Furthermore, the bill mandates the establishment or expansion of a research database to collect data on services provided for uterine fibroid treatment under Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) , requiring a report to Congress on associated expenditures within two years. Beyond research, the legislation establishes a comprehensive public education program to raise awareness about uterine fibroids, including their incidence, prevalence, and the elevated risk for minority individuals . This program will also disseminate information on the full range of medically appropriate treatment options, specifically highlighting non-hysterectomy treatments and procedures . Concurrently, the Secretary is directed to work with medical societies and health systems to provide healthcare providers with evidence-based information on care for individuals with fibroids, again emphasizing minority populations and diverse treatment approaches.
