Preventing Crimes Against Veterans Act of 2025

This bill introduces a new federal offense aimed at preventing fraud against veterans and their families. It amends Title 18 of the U.S. Code to criminalize knowingly executing or attempting to execute a scheme to defraud an individual of veterans' benefits. The legislation also covers fraudulent activities connected with obtaining veterans' benefits for an individual. Those found guilty of these offenses could face significant penalties, including fines, imprisonment for up to 5 years , or both. The term "veterans' benefits" is broadly defined to encompass any benefit provided by federal law for a veteran, their dependent, or survivor, thereby strengthening legal protections for these vulnerable populations.
