The "Cybersecurity in Agriculture Act of 2025" proposes to amend the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 to address cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the agricultural sector. It mandates the Secretary of Agriculture, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, to establish a program for creating Agriculture Cybersecurity Centers . This program will competitively award grants to eligible colleges and universities to establish five Regional Agriculture Cybersecurity Centers across the nation. These centers will focus on critical areas such as research, development, and education concerning cybersecurity for seed agriculture, horticulture, animal agriculture, and the broader agricultural supply chain. Their duties include conducting research on cybersecurity systems, developing security operations centers to analyze threats, and creating advanced cybersecurity technologies and tools. Furthermore, the centers will build live cybersecurity testbeds, conduct attack/defense exercises, and develop comprehensive education and training programs for agricultural stakeholders. The bill authorizes an appropriation of $25,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2026 through 2030 to fund these initiatives.
