This bill amends the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 to establish new requirements for training programs provided to local school food service personnel. It mandates that these programs be scheduled during regular, paid working hours , be offered in-person if appropriate , incorporate experiential learning , and be provided at no cost to the personnel. In cases where training must occur outside of regular working hours, the bill requires that personnel be informed of the necessity and consulted for scheduling to minimize disruption. Attendees must receive compensation at their regular rate of pay , including any applicable overtime. Importantly, food service personnel cannot be penalized or discriminated against for being unable to attend such programs, and these provisions do not supersede existing federal, state, or local employer-employee laws.
