This legislation, titled the Protect Our Law enforcement with Immigration Control and Enforcement Act of 2025, establishes new grounds for the deportation of aliens. Specifically, it amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to make any alien who has been convicted of, or admits to committing, an offense involving the assault of a law enforcement officer deportable. The bill clarifies that such an assault must have occurred while the officer was engaged in official duties, because of their duties, or due to their status as a law enforcement officer. It broadly defines "law enforcement officer" to include individuals involved in criminal justice functions, as well as firefighters and other first responders . Furthermore, the Act mandates that the Secretary of Homeland Security annually report to Congress and publicly on the number of aliens deported under this new provision.
