This legislation mandates the Secretary of Transportation, in collaboration with the Secretaries of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Labor, to develop and publicly release a Veteran to Supply Chain Employee Action Plan within 30 days of enactment. The plan aims to facilitate the transition of military members eligible for preseparation counseling and veterans into supply chain employment. It will identify specific barriers faced by these individuals in finding and securing supply chain jobs, as well as challenges employers encounter when recruiting and retaining them. The action plan must also highlight the valuable skills and abilities veterans possess for supply chain careers, while also identifying any competency gaps. It will recommend concrete short- and long-term actions for federal agencies to support this transition, including improving outreach, training, mentorship, and advancement programs. Furthermore, the Secretary is required to consult with the transportation supply chain industry and employee organizations to ensure comprehensive and effective strategies are developed.
