This bill, known as the Water Intelligence, Security, and Cyber Threat Protection Act, directs the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish a program aimed at bolstering the threat preparedness and resilience of drinking water and wastewater systems. The program's primary goal is to increase participation of community water systems and treatment works in the Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Water ISAC) . To achieve this, the EPA will encourage membership and provide financial assistance to offset costs for systems joining or maintaining their Water ISAC involvement. Additionally, the program will enhance cooperation between the EPA and Water ISAC for improved incident data collection and analysis of water sector threats. It also seeks to strengthen Water ISAC's tools and resources to better monitor the water sector and prepare systems to identify, protect against, detect, respond to, and recover from malevolent acts or natural hazards , with $10,000,000 authorized for each of fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
