Fair SHARE Act of 2025

This bill introduces new federal excise taxes on the sale of electric vehicles and specific battery modules, aiming to generate revenue for infrastructure. It establishes a mechanism to ensure electric vehicle users contribute to the maintenance and development of roads. Specifically, a tax of $1,000 will be imposed on each electric vehicle sold by its manufacturer, producer, or importer. Additionally, a tax of $550 will apply to battery modules weighing over 1,000 pounds that are intended for use in electric vehicles and sold by their manufacturer, producer, or importer. These taxes will apply to sales occurring after December 31, 2025, and the collected revenue will be directed to the Highway Trust Fund .
