FORK Act of 2026

This bill amends the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to create a new Summer meal delivery vehicle pilot program . The program aims to award grants to eligible entities , defined as service institutions, to acquire or improve vehicles specifically for distributing noncongregate summer meals . This initiative is designed to enhance meal access for children during summer months, particularly in underserved communities. The grants, capped at $100,000 for a one-year term, will prioritize entities located in areas with poor economic conditions, rural areas, and those serving a high proportion of socially disadvantaged students. Grantees must allocate no more than 10 percent of funds for administrative expenses and are required to submit periodic reports detailing the impact and use of the funds, including the number of children served. The Secretary is also mandated to provide technical assistance, share best practices, and report to Congress on the program's administration within four years, with an authorization of $1,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 through 2029.
