Honor Our Living Donors Act

This bill, known as the "Honor Our Living Donors Act," aims to amend the Public Health Service Act to enhance support for living organ donors. A key provision prohibits grant recipients from considering the income of the organ recipient when providing reimbursement for expenses to donating individuals, ensuring financial status does not impede donor support. The legislation also removes any existing provisions that might imply an expectation of payments by organ recipients for donor-related costs. To ensure accountability and adequate support, the bill mandates that the Secretary prepare and submit an annual report to Congress . This report must assess whether grants provided sufficient funding to reimburse all qualifying expenses for donating individuals and detail any estimated funding shortfalls or unreimbursed donors.
