Harriet Tubman Tribute Act of 2025

This legislative proposal, known as the "Harriet Tubman Tribute Act of 2025," aims to honor Harriet Tubman by requiring her likeness to be featured on the face of $20 Federal Reserve notes . The bill specifically mandates the Secretary of the Treasury to ensure this redesign is implemented for all such notes printed after December 31, 2030 . The Secretary of the Treasury is granted limited discretion to delay this implementation by not more than two years. Such a delay would only be permissible if, after consulting with key agencies like the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the Secret Service, the Secretary determines that the original deadline would create an unacceptable risk of counterfeiting or disrupt the safe functioning of the United States economy. This determination must also be submitted to relevant Congressional committees.
