This bill authorizes the award of a Congressional Gold Medal , collectively, to the individuals and communities who volunteered or donated items to the North Platte Canteen in North Platte, Nebraska, during World War II. This recognition honors their extraordinary efforts in serving approximately 6,000,000 United States troops by providing food and hospitality from December 1941 to April 1946. The Canteen was a massive, community-driven volunteer effort, supported by 55,000 individuals from 125 communities, operating without federal assistance. Following its presentation, the gold medal will be given to the Lincoln County Historical Museum in North Platte, Nebraska, for public display and research. The Secretary of the Treasury is also authorized to strike and sell bronze duplicates of the medal. Costs for the medals will be covered by the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund, with proceeds from duplicate sales returning to the fund.
