This legislation requires the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and issue new $1 coins honoring deceased Presidents of the United States who have not yet been recognized under previous coin programs. These coins will feature designs emblematic of the President on the obverse and will be issued for a deceased President within three years of their death. The bill ensures the continuation of existing Presidential $1 coin programs while introducing these new commemorative issues, which will be legal tender and treated as numismatic items. Concurrently, the bill mandates the issuance of bullion coins emblematic of the spouse of each honored President during the same timeframe. These spouse coins will adhere to specific design requirements and will also be considered legal tender and numismatic items. In cases where a President served without a spouse, no corresponding bullion coin is required. Additionally, the Secretary is authorized to strike and sell bronze medals bearing the likeness of these First Spouse bullion coins.
