A bill to provide for a ten-year statute of limitations for export control violations under the Export Control Reform Act of 2018.

This bill proposes to amend the Export Control Reform Act of 2018 by establishing a ten-year statute of limitations for violations of export control regulations. This new provision would apply to both civil enforcement actions and criminal prosecutions. For civil fines, penalties, or forfeitures, an action cannot be initiated more than 10 years after the date of the violation, with the issuance of a charging letter constituting commencement. Similarly, for criminal offenses, an indictment or information must be found or instituted within 10 years from the latest date of the violation.
