RCORP Authorization Act

This legislation, known as the RCORP Authorization Act, aims to ensure the continuation of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP). It mandates the Secretary, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Administrator, to maintain this program, which focuses on establishing and expanding crucial prevention, treatment, and recovery services for substance use disorders , including opioid use disorder, and related behavioral health conditions in rural areas. To achieve its objectives, the program authorizes HRSA to award grants and cooperative agreements to eligible entities like States, Indian Tribes, and State offices of rural health. These funds can be used for planning activities, implementing evidence-based service delivery models, and responding to emerging public health issues, though not for real property acquisition. The bill authorizes appropriations of $165,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to support these efforts.
