BEACH Act of 2025

The Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health Act of 2025 reauthorizes and amends the existing federal grant program for monitoring coastal recreation water quality. It expands the scope of waters covered to include nearby shallow upstream waters and areas directly present on beaches , allowing grant funds to be used for identifying specific sources of contamination . The bill reauthorizes $30,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2025 through 2029 to support these efforts. Additionally, it mandates that the Environmental Protection Agency update its guidance to states and local governments to reflect the latest innovations in water contamination testing technologies .
