Wildfire Prevention and Recovery Act

This legislation directs the Secretary of the Army to periodically conduct wildfire risk assessments for federally authorized dams, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure managed by the Corps of Engineers within the State of Arizona. The primary goal of these assessments is to significantly reduce both the risk of wildfire damage and the subsequent recovery costs associated with wildfire and post-wildfire impacts on these vital assets. When conducting these assessments, the Secretary must identify wildfire exposure risks that could impede the Corps of Engineers' ability to fulfill its authorized purposes, such as flood control and water supply. Furthermore, the assessments must consider corresponding risks to communities from potential infrastructure failure due to wildfire, and evaluate the functionality of the infrastructure regarding post-wildfire risks like excess sedimentation and debris flows . The Secretary is also required to incorporate available studies and data from various entities and propose mitigation strategies to enhance the Corps of Engineers' preparedness and response capabilities for wildfire risks affecting the infrastructure.
