PREVENT Act

This legislation mandates the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to maintain and expand a program focused on the **primary prevention of child sexual abuse**. The program is tasked with identifying and addressing critical gaps in research and practice within federal efforts, aiming to improve understanding of both risk and protective factors for perpetration and victimization. This includes enhancing surveillance systems and data collection, particularly concerning **technology-facilitated child sexual abuse**. Furthermore, the program will strengthen existing and develop new **evidence-based policies, programs, and practices** for prevention, while also increasing their dissemination and implementation. To support these comprehensive efforts, the bill authorizes an appropriation of **$6,000,000 annually** for fiscal years 2027 through 2031.
