National Commission on Robotics Act

This bill, titled the National Commission on Robotics Act, mandates the establishment of an independent body called the Commission on American Leadership in Robotics by the Secretary of Commerce within 30 days of enactment. The Commission's core purpose is to thoroughly examine the landscape of robotics, specifically focusing on its implications for interstate and foreign commerce, economic competitiveness, and national security. Following its review, the Commission is tasked with developing and submitting recommendations to the appropriate congressional committees and the President.

The Commission will consist of 18 members, appointed by congressional leaders and the President, who must be recognized experts with professional experience in robotics or its economic and societal impacts. Its comprehensive review will cover various aspects, including the competitiveness of the United States in robotics, strategies to maintain technological advantage, international developments, workforce incentives, and the global and domestic supply chain for robotics. The Commission is required to submit an interim report within one year and a final report with its findings and recommendations within two years of its establishment, ultimately terminating 18 months after the final report's submission.
