Marijuana Impact on Medicaid Act of 2026

This legislation directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to gather comprehensive data on the financial impact of marijuana use on the Medicaid program. Specifically, it requires the collection of information regarding Federal and State expenditures for inpatient hospital services, outpatient hospital services, and emergency room visits that are attributable to marijuana use.

Within one year of enactment, the Secretary must submit a detailed report to Congress outlining these findings. This report, which will also be made publicly available, is intended to inform policymakers about the financial burden on Medicaid. It may also include recommendations for legislation or administrative action to address the identified costs.
