Private Detention Accountability Act

This bill, known as the Private Detention Accountability Act , mandates that the Office of Detention Oversight (ODO) conduct audits of detention facilities where aliens are held. Following an audit, the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) must submit a report within 30 days to specific congressional committees, detailing the audit results and actions taken to remediate any discovered deficiencies. A key provision restricts ICE from housing new aliens at any detention facility unless the ODO has completed an audit, all identified deficiencies have been properly remediated, and the required report has been submitted. This restriction applies to both new facilities commencing operations after the bill's enactment and existing facilities that have undergone an ODO audit.
