The Workforce Development Modernization Act seeks to update and expand access to workforce services by amending the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). A primary change allows for the establishment of virtual one-stop centers , defined as equipment providing access to WIOA programs, in addition to physical locations. This flexibility also permits adjacent local areas to share one-stop centers , whether physical or virtual, enhancing resource utilization. The bill further enables these one-stop centers to be located at public institutions of higher education , integrating workforce services with educational opportunities. It also clarifies that employment service offices in states with physical one-stop centers must be colocated with them. These provisions aim to modernize service delivery and improve accessibility to workforce development resources.
