This bill amends the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to establish the Ohio River Basin Restoration Program, to be managed by an Ohio River National Program Office within the Environmental Protection Agency. The Program Director will coordinate EPA actions, develop an action plan, and engage with an advisory council comprising Federal, State, Tribal, and non-Federal stakeholders. This office is tasked with advancing systemic, large-scale restoration and protection of the Ohio River Basin. The program's projects and activities are designed to achieve several key goals, including improving water quality and drinking water, increasing community resilience to flood and storm risk, and protecting and restoring fish and wildlife habitat . Other objectives include preventing invasive species, remediating toxic substances, and enhancing public access and recreation opportunities. The bill prioritizes the use of natural infrastructure and nature-based solutions for these projects. The bill authorizes an appropriation of $350,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to fund these comprehensive restoration efforts.
