Delivering for Rural Seniors Act of 2026

This bill establishes a pilot program to enhance access to the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for low-income elderly persons . It achieves this by authorizing the Secretary to award competitive grants to State agencies, which will then fund local entities to operate home delivery projects for CSFP commodities. Grant funds are specifically designated for costs associated with transportation, distribution, staffing, and outreach related to home delivery services. State agencies are mandated to prioritize eligible entities that serve CSFP participants residing in rural areas . Grantees must submit annual reports detailing activities, assessing project effectiveness, including average cost per delivery, and identifying best practices. The bill authorizes an appropriation of $10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 through 2029 to carry out this program.
