Additionally, the legislation ensures that the hours of service exemption for transporting livestock feed applies year-round, eliminating previous seasonal limitations. A significant provision of the bill requires the Secretary of Transportation to conduct a rulemaking within 180 days to expand the definition of "agricultural commodity." This expanded definition will encompass a wider array of items, including nonprocessed products for food, feed, fuel, or fiber, various living animals and their nonprocessed products, forestry and aquacultural commodities, and fresh or minimally processed fruits and vegetables, thereby broadening the scope of eligible agricultural goods for these exemptions.
