This legislation, known as the Carson City Public Land Correction Act, directs the conveyance of approximately 1,288 acres of federal land to Carson City, Nevada, for public purposes such as recreation and flood mitigation. The city will receive this land for no monetary consideration but must cover all associated costs, and the land will revert to the United States if not used for the specified public purposes. Additionally, about 0.45 acres will be conveyed to the city for roadway expansion, with the city responsible for costs and required to construct a crosswalk for continued public access. The bill also mandates the sale of approximately 360 acres of federal land to qualified bidders, ensuring Carson City retains existing public utility and drainage easements. Furthermore, it establishes a mechanism for the city to convey about 20 acres of its land to the Secretary of the Interior, who will then sell it to qualified bidders, with the city retaining specific easements for a municipal well and a public right-of-way. All proceeds generated from these land sales, along with existing funds, will be deposited into the Carson City Special Account . These funds are made available without further appropriation to support a range of local initiatives. These include the reimbursement of administrative costs, wildlife habitat conservation projects, hazardous fuels reduction, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land, and capital improvements for federal agencies within the city. Finally, the bill amends the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 to allow Carson City to sell or lease certain previously conveyed federal land to third parties for economic development, recreation, or other public purposes, provided the sale is for not less than fair market value. It also updates the deadline for the sale of other specific lands under the 2009 Act to within one year of this Act's enactment if a qualified bidder exists.
