This bill aims to prohibit new oil and natural gas activities in certain areas of the outer Continental Shelf off the coasts of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Specifically, it prevents the Secretary from issuing any new leases or authorizations for exploration, development, or production of oil and natural gas in these designated regions. This prohibition is set to remain in effect from the date of the bill's enactment until June 30, 2032 . The affected areas include the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, as defined by the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006, and both the South Atlantic Planning Area and the Straits of Florida Planning Area. These planning areas are further specified as depicted in the 2024-2029 National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Proposed Final Program.
