This bill mandates the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide an annual report to Congress on the causes of death among veterans. Each report must identify for every deceased veteran whether they had a total service-connected disability , their primary and secondary causes of death , and the manner of death . It also requires a statement of the total number of veterans for each primary cause and manner of death. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is required to submit these reports to the Committees on Veterans' Affairs of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. This reporting obligation is temporary, with a sunset clause terminating the requirement five years after the bill's enactment.
