The "Immersive Technology for the American Workforce Act of 2025" directs the Secretary of Labor to establish a competitive grant program. This program will support eligible entities, primarily community colleges and area career and technical education centers , in developing and implementing immersive technology education and training services programs. The goal is to create career pathways that equip individuals with the necessary skills for employment leading to economic self-sufficiency, with grants awarded for up to five years. Funds must be used to create or align and implement training services that utilize immersive technology , such as virtual, augmented, and mixed reality. These programs are designed to increase training for students, including members of the Armed Forces and veterans , to facilitate entry into in-demand industry sectors, and to be accessible to individuals with barriers to employment . Priority will be given to applicants demonstrating collaboration with employers, alignment with existing workforce plans, and a focus on specific in-demand sectors or rural communities. Grant recipients are required to submit regular reports on program performance to the Secretary of Labor, who will then compile and submit biennial reports to Congress. The Secretary is also mandated to conduct an independent evaluation of the programs and to establish and publish best practices for using immersive technology in workforce education and training. The bill authorizes $50,000,000 annually for this program from fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
