This legislation seeks to expand Medicare coverage by establishing a new benefit for preventive home visits , which will be covered no more frequently than once every two years. These visits involve qualified professionals assessing an individual's home environment to identify health risks and provide referrals for interventions or modifications. The purpose of these interventions is to improve physical function, balance, strength, and mobility, reduce fall risk factors, and enhance nutrition. Medicare will cover 100 percent of the cost for these services, with the Secretary establishing a bundled payment amount that includes any associated referrals. Preventive home visits can be conducted in-person, remotely, or as a combination of both, offering flexibility in delivery. The new Medicare coverage for these essential services is scheduled to become effective for services furnished on or after January 1, 2027.
